I went to my first craft fair on Saturday, at the Perth showgrounds. The event was tailored for an older crowd than the hip, young crafter that I am (well, it’s all relative), but a one thing caught my eye:
Wow – I can’t imagine having the patience to make lace. Isn’t it pretty?
All that attention to detail and fine work – this is one of those arts that people just don’t have time for. So sad…
At least there is the Australian Lace Guild promoting the art (with a quarterly magazine and correspondence courses). I think I’ll stick with crochet and sewing for the time being. Maybe one day, I’ll have the time and patience for lace making, when there’s not to so many sticky little fingers wanting to touch everything ;)
